Preeminence in the marketplace is not a goal you pursue directly, it is the byproduct of a goal you pursue directly.
What is THAT goal?
The development of an entire Universe into which your prospective clients and customers arrive only to discover that choosing anyone OTHER than your business no longer makes sense.
This is the focus of the work I do. Helping business owners build and run these Universes. (It is the focus of the next issue of the Selling You newsletter.)
These Universes begin only as ideas, ideas that come from the core essence of WHO is running the business. From there those ideas are demonstrated and deployed via marketing systems that become the foundation of their new world.
You aren’t anointed with preeminence, it’s a position you claim, then fortify with proof, then reclaim with everything you do. Provided your words and actions are in alignment with this position, you get to keep it.
Sometimes, you have that position and don’t even know it.

When your business exists in a position of preeminence, you make up the rules for how your business goes. It is quiet power on display, a power that commands respect without demanding it.
The secret is that you don’t wait to exercise this power, it is not an effect, it is one of the causes.
