The timeline is always longer and slower than we want.
You can fight it, you can make yourself look stupid by trying to change it (get 100% off TODAY ONLY!), or you can use it to your advantage.
In business, it always TAKES LONGER than you want.
Yesterday, I heard from a client, a real estate investor, for whom I created a lead generation sequence…OVER A YEAR AGO.
He invested somewhere north of $20K for me to do this work. It was about 6 direct mail pieces designed to go to a list of local (multi-unit) property owners who might be looking to sell.
He’s a full time investor and wanted a way to bring deals to him instead of chasing after them. This is the type of thing I do… attract high-value people.
He sent me a message to say the sequence had generated a few leads that finally came to life…after about a year!
He closed on three properties and had them under contract already to sell at a profit of just under $100K. He also has another likely deal that came from this that hasn’t closed yet.
This is often the speed of business. SLOWER THAN WE WANT.
That sequence got mailed (through the real mail) to property owners for about 6 months straight, one piece per month.
And then he didn’t hear anything. Until the market changed and they were ready to sell. And then they called.
I wonder why they called HIM?
This is why the media platform works. Because it just keeps showing up. Because when the need arises, or when the funds become available, or when the desire flares up…
YOU ARE ALREADY THERE. Because you’ve BEEN there… and you’re GOING to be there.
If you have a business, a media platform is a valuable machine of trust and alchemical magic that can create just about any result you want.
If you don’t yet have a business, there’s no faster way to get clear on what you’re doing than by starting to help people in advance.
But most people won’t do it. Why? Because it’s too simple. And too slow! Can’t I just make some social media posts and get rich?
My client’s simple six step sequence was enough of a quasi media platform to just about double his money on a single deal. You don’t get returns like that in the stock market.
When in doubt, serve someone. Aim your gifts at helping people who have problems they want solved, who have the resources you require to benefit from those solutions.
