If you’re human, your favorite topic is you.
The bad news is that no one else’s favorite topic is you. Everyone else’s favorite topic is THEM.
When you are presenting what you have to the world, this is important to remember. In fact, it serves as the overarching truth that will influence everything about how you show up.
It’s about THEM, not YOU. Even when it’s about YOU it’s about THEM.
This is not how most humans are trained to see the world, from the perspective of others.
And that’s why so many business owners run out into the world trying to take their product to others. They try to build a bridge from what they have to other people.
This is backwards…and hard.
The better way is to start with everyone’s favorite topic and go from there. That means, the bridge doesn’t get built from you out to the world but from the world back to you.
You START with THEM and lead them to YOU.
And really, it’s not even a bridge you’re building. You’re just laying down a trail of breadcrumbs that your prospects find interesting and valuable.
They pick up a breadcrumb, look ahead and see the next one.
This approach accomplishes two important things:
By the time the prospect finds his way back to you, the sale has already been made…and it’s the buyer who did all of the selling!
And second, you get a quality customer who completed the sale using his own energy rather than one you had to convince and manipulate to buy.
