There are three things you need for a sale to happen with a client or customer:
- You need desire… they need to have a problem they want solved.
- You need trust… they need to believe that you are the one to help them solve that problem.
- You need clarity… they need to understand what is happening within the exchange enough to make that exchange.
If you ask most salespeople how you make a sale, they’ll explain that a sale is the result of selling.
And while that’s a correct answer, it’s not the only answer.
But isn’t selling bad? Doesn’t selling annoy everyone?
Not if you know what you’re doing. But like anything, most people are mediocre at best.
There are the people who hate selling because they’re terrible at it, and then there are people who don’t like “selling” because of the way it affects the perception the world has of you and the relationship you have with those you serve.
I want the sale, because I want to solve someone’s problem. But I want it without the selling. Why? Because THAT’S the type of experience I want to create for a client who wants their problems solved. That’s the type of FEELING I want them to have as they come out the other side of a sale happening.
And that’s what the media platform is for. It generates sales in a way that builds relationships instead of eroding them.
How does that work?
It’s really impossible to fully know. I know the ingredients that go into the recipe, and I know that the cake comes out tasting good. But what EXACTLY goes on during the process is really just a form of magic that defies explanation.
Is there a limit to how much magic this can create in a business?
I don’t know.
I do know that the media platform can be powerful enough to engineer a $15,000 sale without writing any sales copy, without talking to the buyer, without communicating with them in any way, without even knowing they exist.
I know that’s possible because I’ve experienced it. One day, they’re a subscriber to the media platform, and the next day, they ask to send you $15,000 in exchange for you helping them.
The benefit of the media platform is that it takes your focus off trying to manipulate a result, and puts your focus on something you actually control, a process that can lead to a result.
If you want my help installing this in your business, the Platform Lab starts Monday.
