We were tricked into believing we had to be liked…
Isn’t that what every kid wants in school? For the other kids to like you?
Not one teacher in my school experience ever mentioned how to carry yourself so that you are respected.
These are two very different things.
To be liked, you must exhibit qualities that do not threaten the manufactured identity of others, qualities that are similar enough to others so as not to alienate them, qualities that show enough of you is in line with others’ perceptions of the world.
To be respected, however, you must exhibit power.
The recipe for this power is not the one the world has shoved down our throats in movies, TV and the countless stories of “successful” and completely dysfunctional people.
- Power is not what a tyrant wields.
- Power is not coercion under threat of violence.
- Power is not the charade we see playing out on the world stage as the evil puppets claw to what little control over humanity they have left.
Real power is an expression of life force that does not require conformity or submission by any outside party.
Real power is the result of Will expressed in a specific direction. It is going somewhere.
Real power is a force that wants for nothing.
THIS is the power that generates respect.
When being liked is your goal, earning respect is off the table.
Because trying to be liked betrays the existence of a very deep need.
In the animal kingdom, which is barely a few steps away from the human kingdom, NEED has a smell.
It is noticed, it is located, it is neutralized.
NEED puts the collective at risk. And therefore, it is removed.
We can strive to be liked or we can strive for something greater.
Striving to be liked will forever make you an easy target for unlimited control. You will be a willing pawn in someone else’s plan. This is the path of death by need.
Choosing the path of power will lead to a very different future…and in that future, RESPECT for you will exist in great abundance.
